This hike is a good side trip if you have a few hours to spare and want to escape the crowds of Waikiki. The hike is shady nearly the whole way through so it’s a good option as as afternoon hike to avoid the strong sun.
A short hike out and the forrest opens into an amphitheater of trees. The site is so inspiring!
Because we’re hiking through a rain forest, the trail is damp, so brining hike shoes that can get muddy is a must.
And we’ve reached the falls! If you’re facing the falls to the left side you’ll see the start of another trail. Since we have some energy left, we take this route only to be slowed down by very muddy trails. We walk far enough to get us to some ancient bamboo trees then turn around before our shoes are totally destroyed.
